Set up

  1. 1Clear a safe path for picking up and setting down the dumbbells.
  2. 2Use a controlled kick-up or a spotter for heavy pressing variations.
  3. 3Choose a stance that lets the knees track with the toes and the whole foot stay planted.
  4. 4Set the bar, safeties, or dumbbell securely and brace before leaving the start position.

How to perform it

  1. 1Stand holding a light kettlebell by the horns close to your chest. This will be your starting position.
  2. 2Squat down between your legs until your hamstrings are on your calves. Keep your chest and head up and your back straight.
  3. 3At the bottom position, pause and use your elbows to push your knees out. Return to the starting position, and repeat for 10-20 repetitions.

Breathing

Inhale and brace before the lowering phase, then exhale gradually through the hardest part of the repetition without losing trunk position.
